Meet Andrea

I've had many friends, and a few family members do boudoir shoots over the past few years. I always thought it would be cool and fun to do it someday. When I turned 49, I really started considering it. I was in better physical shape, and I wanted to feel the confidence I have seen in other people's photos. I decided that's what I would do for myself when I turned 50. With the husband on board, I reached out to Amber.

Turning 50 was not a big struggle for me. I have always looked far younger than my age. I will say at 50, I am more comfortable in my sexuality, more confident in the person I am and more willing to do things my 40-year-old self would have balked at. And that is comforting and empowering at the same time.

I was excited to book a session. I had done some searching on google for boudoir photographers in my general area. I think I looked for about 3 or 4 months before I decided on Amber.

I saw she was going to be doing a 50 over 50 project. I was totally on board with that. I sent an email and waited nervously for a response. At first my nerves were a bit high, but as it came closer to the shoot, I became more excited. Leading up to the shoot I felt both excited and nervous. I read up on all of Amber's information, what to do's and don'ts, what to expect, what to bring. I felt I understood everything pretty well. I started putting a selection of my favorite pieces of lingerie and other items together. I even bought a new set specifically for the shoot.

The day of my session I woke up with a feeling of Christmas morning, or summer vacation, with a touch of nerves mixed in. I arrived and Amber welcomed me at the front door. Her building is a locked building, so you have to be let in which made me feel safe. While getting my make-up and hair done Amber and her make-up artist included me in their conversations. When it was time to take the photos, it was just Amber and I. She wanted to know about the pieces I brought and my thoughts and opinions on which ones I wanted to wear. She has a good eye and helped with genuine excitement. As the session progressed, we chatted and got to know each other and any nerves I might have started out with quickly faded. It was nice to find out we have some common ground. It felt like I was talking to girlfriend. Amber was always professional with a great bedside manner. It was very empowering to be there in her studio doing a boudoir shoot.

When I left the studio, I felt confident in myself. I was on a high from the positivity and self-love of the shoot. I wanted to keep that feeling.

I was both nervous and excited to see the images. Some of them I really loved and others I didn't like at all. I had to tell myself to be kind to myself, love who you are. Amber was very helpful while going through them. Her opinion as a photographer was nice to have. She was very supportive. Overall I saw a side of me that was sexy and beautiful.

Everyone is a good fit for a boudoir session. If there are parts of your figure that you are not comfortable with, Amber can help with lighting, poses and clothing to capture the best parts of you. It is empowering and an amazing experience.

Being 50 is a beautiful time in your life. You have gained knowledge and experiences that can help and benefit younger women who may be struggling . Someone is looking up to you as their example, someone they want to be like when they get to your age. . Find your confidence and embrace it.
